 11 month old shedding pounds

My son is 11 months old. He had doubled his birth weight before he was 36 months old and what food was in 20 lbs and 11 ounces two/three months ago. We are still breastfeeding and we're also giving him the least one pureed serving of food each day (this is foursix ounces). At our last weight check (after he previously already lost a pound), he decreased another five to six ounces as a result of 19 lbs and 3oz.

Our doc started in (and raised my hackles) and basically accused my spouse and i of giving our son an excessive amount of solid food rather than enough breastmilk. I was still feeding him every twothree hours (not counting the solid feeding as well as the sixeight hours respite through the night).

My dilemma is that because of his little speech we increased our milk feeds and our son started spitting up a little bit again (which explains why there was decreased the feeding time whilst was 3 months old he was spitting a great deal of up). We added a milkfeed before giving him solids and decreased the volume of solids (from foursix ounces right down to two). However were concerned that he is still shedding pounds. Also, he pulls off and does not stay on for your feeding time. Usually about every other possibly even feedings he can, although not each and every time.

I was wondering if anyone else had had a similar knowledge about their infant. I must mention that based on a number of places, breastfed babies will typically be between 2.5 3 times their birthweight at twelve months for our son that would be between 18 and 1/8 lbs and 21 and 3/4 lbs. I'm just racking your brains on if I'm justified in telling my pediatrician to stop worrying my better half about our son's eating routine?

You need a new pediatrician

I too nursed (still do at 21 mo). At about 11 mo old enough my baby was nursing usually Half a dozen times per day and was eating a great deal of pureed and finger food. We used his hunger cues along with a loose schedule to secure him. He has stayed steady inside the 90th percentile since he was 6 mo old. Forcing on a youngster than he needs usually backfires hugely.

If your little child is losing weight between appointments, and you're simply feeding him everytime he indicates he needs it (breastmilk or solids) then there may be another thing medically occurring that needs to be investigate.

Also, if your son were built with a full tummy 2 mo ago, plus an emptier one now, or possibly a different scale was used, etc. His weight might be off a lttle bit. My own baby gained only a pound from 912 mo, about three pounds from 1218. But we used different scales every time (long story) therefore i realize that it's not quite accurate but also absolutely nothing to worry about.

Discover a different pediatrician who'll allow you to truly solve the issue inside a constructive way, if there even is a concern. But additionally, don't overlook the fat loss, just in case it's a problem.

Another thought, (still find another doctor) but a 12 month old really should have only 1624 ounces of milk and stay weaned from formula (but please do breastfeed for extended). Point is actually 11 mo your kids needs to be getting a substantial level of his calories from solids, not nursing. He should consume 36 oz of solids for the majority of of his meals, and may have no less than 3 meals of solids. Try giving him fattier solids like avocado, fish, hamburger, etc.

Plus you say he can not nurse your entire feeding time babies have more efficient at nursing, and lots of could possibly get serveral ounces in a couple of minutes. If he pulls off and will not latch back on, he is full.

Consult a physician, however would attempt to increase his food, and introduce fingerfoods, but carry on nursing a couple of times each day that has good health too. Here are a few links with other posts I wrote regarding introducing finger foods. You could possibly will find them helpful.
